Thanks for the recommendations and your thoughts everyone. The only TLMDs I've heard are the acoustic ones from the '80 Warfield/Radio City runs. If pressed I might say that the version on Reckoning is my favorite Garcia vocal performance; it's surely an example of the man at his most tender and soulful. Can't wait to hear the ones you've all recommended...

It's gone grate...thanks tiger...you know your shit. Like I said, I've been singin' it lately and the more versions I hear, the harder it gets...not an easy song to sing. One of my favorites as well; it's one of those rare actual love songs, you know? AshesRising pointed out that Hunter wrote it on the same day as "Ripple" and "Brokedown"...imagine that...

yeah,hunter had some inspiration that day,i forget what book but hunter gave jerry the lyrics,jerry looked them over,stuffed it in his pocket and came up with the music the very next day.
